Did I fall for it or what???

On our way over to Meijer yesterday after work to pick up our FREE antibiotic, I was talking about how smart this is for a company to do to bring people into their stores probably hoping that they will then continue on looking for other things and buy them there. I don’t deny that this is my habit - if I’m already at Target, Kroger, CVS, etc…it gets bought there. But lately I am starting to have to think of where I can really find good prices on a wide variety of things. My last food shopping was well over my “allotted” funds for that trip and that had me a bit worried.  I have already left my brand loyalty (so I guess that I really was not brand loyal) on many items for store brand. H knew that I was VERY serious when I gave up the branded orange juice for store brand, but I really could not justify spending $6 on a gallon when the store brand was $2.50!  BTW - hell will be totally frozen over when I abandon my laundry detergent loyalty…that will be a momentous event!

So after getting our FREE prescription, I do decide to check on the price of baby jar food. The Gerber jar baby foods were 8 cents cheaper than what I got at Target last Friday…and I found the Del Monte baby food jars that Kroger stopped carrying between baby #1 (A) and baby #2 (Z). For the record, the Del Monte jars were 14 cents (!) cheaper than the Gerber. So I stocked up on the Del Monte - which were better priced when I was buying for A and I had not been able to find.

I guess that Meijer will be seeing me soon because that is where I now need to go to get my baby food - the rice cereal was also the cheapest that I have found anywhere.  So I guess Meijer’s theory worked on me.  That is okay, I’m not going any further than Kroger or Target, just a different direction, and I’m sure I’ll find other good prices there on other items that we use.
